About
Loyola Living Center is an immersive landscape designed to support wellness, connection, and daily engagement with nature. Created for a senior living community in Austin, the project blends native planting communities, accessible outdoor spaces, and regenerative stormwater infrastructure into a cohesive landscape experience.
At the heart of the design are a series of wetland-inspired rain gardens that capture, filter, and slow stormwater before it leaves the site. Integrated biofiltration systems, native aquatic and upland plant communities, and elevated boardwalks transform this infrastructure into an amenity—allowing residents to experience seasonal change, wildlife habitat, and the rhythms of water throughout the year.
Accessible walking loops, gathering spaces, pollinator gardens, and shaded seating areas encourage exploration and social connection while supporting long-term ecological resilience. The planting palette emphasizes native and well-adapted species that provide habitat, reduce water consumption, and create year-round texture, color, and shade.
Rather than separating sustainability from daily life, Loyola Living Center weaves environmental stewardship into the resident experience, creating a landscape that is restorative, resilient, and deeply connected to the Central Texas landscape.
