About
Located in the Sonoran Desert outside Tucson, this project explores the relationship between shelter, landscape, and horizon. A steel pavilion anchors the outdoor living experience, creating spaces for gathering, dining, and quiet retreat while framing views of the surrounding mountains.
The design draws from the region's material palette - weathering steel, masonry, desert stone, and drought-adapted planting - to create a landscape that feels both rooted and enduring. Native and climate-adapted species soften the architecture, weaving structure into the broader desert context while providing seasonal texture, movement, and habitat.
Developed in close collaboration with the structural engineering team, the pavilion is conceived not as an object placed within the landscape, but as an extension of it—a shaded refuge shaped by light, climate, and place.
